Casey Anthony

So today on July 5 2011, brings an uproar among Americans. Casey Anthony, after 3 years and several weeks on trial for the murder of her child Caylee was found not guilty on the charge of 1st degree murder.

Many people have their own personal beliefs, but it appears to me, that the general consensus is that the verdict was wrong. On the other hand I believe if was the right one. On my twitter feed I could see nothing but outrage and shock, but I honestly wasn’t.

To me she was innocent of the charges. Let’s make this clear, the charges were murder. By that you’re saying that Casey deliberately killed her child, knowing exactly the consequences and outcome. Think about that for a second. A young mother, murdering an innocent 2 year old girl. Let me repeat that, her mother. Everyone that testified claimed she was a loving mother towards Caylee. Really? I can’t imagine any parent that would use chloroform knock their child unconscious, duct tape their mouth, dump the body in the woods (need I say less than a block away from their own house) and ultimately killing their child. That is seriously messed up individual and Casey didn’t show any of signs of a psychopath. Sure she isn’t the best mom or best person as a whole, but that doesn’t prove she’s a murderer. She is simply just a dumb woman, a horrible mother. She isn’t smart enough to be able to hide all traces of murder to her, while some murderous masterminds have all been caught and killed.

There was no proof of what killed Caylee, how she was killed, when she was killed, or where she was kill, or even the why, the intention of murder, without all that, you cannot prove anyone is guilty. That is how the legal system is. It works. You cannot judge someone based on biased opinions.

Now let’s talking about the media and the outside viewers. The media has blown this trial out of proportion for 3 years. They automatically provide their own personal verdicts before the actual jury does. All the same across the boards: guilty. That influences all the viewers. We only see and are told what those TV analysist such as Nancy Grace or Jane Velez-Mitchell. They’re so quick to make the judgement, and exude hostility towards the defendant. We all choose to believe that. What happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? Instead we all assume the worst and are too stubborn to change our view points because so many other people have the same view point. As Americans we find a certain thing to get behind so we can all have a common enemy or hero. In this case the common enemy was Casey Anthony. This “monster” of a mother, that murdered her child unmercifully. That was the view point. In this country we all want to see someone suffer and pay for what they did. We just want someone to blame, especially for the hanious crime of murder of child. The fact that we the verdict wasn’t that, I believe many Americans are outraged that this little innocent girl’s death is going without justice. But what is justice if Casey is wrongfully prosecuted, and she She cannot be tried for murder because there was not evidence. The only reason people are devastated by this is because they feel like she got away with murder. We wanted the first person to be prosecuted. As much as I want justice for Caylee, I don’t believe that it would’ve been rightfully served if Casey was convicted.

Accusations towards bad women has been a problem with country since the beginning in Salem, Mass. We all get together to prosecute someone. Those women obviously weren’t guilty but, like recently, we assumed that they were. It’s our American nature to condemn someone for the death of anyone. We are all captivated by the thought of someone else’s life in jeopardy and we can watch the outcome of it. The crowds of people, the millions of people watching on TV, the millions of people tweeting is just disgusting for making this such a horrible spectacle. Calling out for someones death. Because we are not personally involved with the case, we are allowed to let out emotions and run wild. Which is the result in all the outpour of frustration.

In closing I’d like to say I agree with out judicial system. It was established so people weren’t wrongly prosecuted like back in Salem. Dispute it all you want, but it works.
